Caring for your Wigs and Hairpieces!
One of the most important thing you have to do to keep your wigs and hair piece looking great is to proper care and service your hair unit.Human hair and synthetic hair are each cared for differently for example there is a specially formulated washing kits for human hair and one for synthetic hair.
Step 1 Detangle the hair
Before you wash any unit make sure you comb the hair out first with a wide tooth comb, if it is a long hair wig remember to comb from the bottom up and gradually work your way towards the root.
Step 2 Shampoo the hair
Wet the hair gentle with room temperature water, but do not soak as this can sometimes lead to tangling.
Add shampoo evenly throughout the hair and never allow the water to become hot since this can sometimes cause the wefts to come apart.
Step 3 Rinse with water
Allow room temperature water to run through the hair in the same direction of the hair.
After shampoo is completely removed from the hair gently towel dry the unit with a soft towel, this allows for any excess water to be removed from the unit. Avoid any wringing and twisting since this can cause the unit to become out of shape.
Step 4 Condition
Place conditioner on the hair and distribute evenly throughout the hair. Remember
mono tops, and fully hand tied wigs are all hand made so please avoid the conditioner form going towards the roots since this can cause the hand knots to come apart and cause some shedding. Rinse with room temperature water.
Final step 5 The drying process.
Towel dry the unit by gently pressing the excess water out of the unit. Do not rub twist or wring the hair. Comb hair with a wide tooth comb since brushing wet hair may cause shedding of the hair strands. Place unit on a wigs stand never on a mannequin or styrofoam head since this may cause the wigs to stretch.
Afterwards you can style the wigs if it is a human hair wigs you may curl, flat iron, etc., if synthetic most synthetic wigs will revert back to the original style after washing and drying.
